La visit to the menhirs of Carnac in the Gulf of Morbihan can be visited in a variety of ways, depending on what you want to do and how much time you have available. A guided tour is available all year round, lasting around an hour (every day during school holidays). A tour guide will take you to the main ancient sites to help you better understand their history. You can also take a self-guided tour along the megalith path. There are three routes for exploring the alignments from the outside (a short loop around Le Ménec, a 1.2 km intermediate route to Kermario and a 3.5 km walk from Le Ménec to Kerlescan). The Ménec site is made up of 1,050 standing stones spread over almost a kilometre. Visit Kermario site is the most visited, because of the impressive size of its monoliths. Finally, Kerlescan boasts 13 lines of very well-preserved menhirs, totalling 555 standing stones. Prior to your visit, whether self-guided or guided, we recommend that you visit the House of Megaliths which serves as a reception area and starting point for tours. You can watch an introductory video and a number of exhibitions on free admission. In addition, during the school holidays, family visits and workshops are offered. This is a great opportunity for children (aged 4 and over) and adults alike to gain a better understanding of what makes up the world's largest alignment, and to discover the techniques used to lift and move these enormous blocks of stone.

What can you do in Carnac?

Take advantage of the visit to the Carnac alignments to discover the beautiful beaches of this seaside resort in Morbihan. Situated between the Gulf of Morbihan Carnac and Quiberon Bay boast five beaches that are perfect for swimming, water sports and relaxing. The Grande Plage de Carnac, with its 2km of fine sand, is supervised in summer. Beach clubs and water sports activities (sailing, paddle, kayaking, etc.) ensure that you can have fun in complete safety. La town of Carnac also offers a rich historical and religious heritage. In the market town, admire the majestic 17ᵉ century church of Saint-Cornély and the elegant villas. And don't miss a stroll to the Saint-Michel burial mound, dated to around 4500 BC. A chapel dedicated to Saint-Michel stands at its summit. Admire the panorama that stretches out before you as far as the eye can see over the bay, the Quiberon peninsula and Belle île en Mer, one of the world's the most beautiful islands in the Gulf of Morbihan.
For family fun, discover the "forêt adrénaline" adventure park, located near our camping in Carnac. Accessible from the age of 2, there are 25 accrobranche courses and 45 tyroliennes, not forgetting the gigantic net courses for maximum thrills!
